Overseas market focus: the online shopping boom of perfume and cosmetics in Brazil leads the new trend of e-commerce

The latest report from the Brazilian E-commerce Association reveals that by 2023, the size of Brazil’s retail e-commerce market has significantly increased from 70 billion Brazilian reals in 2018, and is expected to reach 185 billion Brazilian reals (approximately 34.5 billion US dollars), achieving a leap of more than double. At the same time, the average unit price has steadily increased, rising from 435 Brazilian reals to 470 Brazilian reals. By comparison, the retail e-commerce sales in the United States in 2023 will reach $1.14 trillion, demonstrating the thriving vitality of the global e-commerce market.

Particularly striking is that Brazilian consumers will take the lead in online shopping preferences in 2023 in terms of orders for perfume and cosmetics, followed by home decoration, health products, food and beverage and other categories. This trend not only reflects the increasing emphasis of Brazilian consumers on quality of life and personal image, but also indicates the huge potential of the beauty and personal care market in the country’s e-commerce sector.

From the perspective of product category contribution, according to Brazilian analysis company ECBD statistics, by 2023, electronic products will become the leader in e-commerce revenue with a 31% share, followed closely by fashion products (27%), hobbies and leisure products (14%), and furniture and home furnishings (11%). This data layout highlights the diversified development trend of the Brazilian e-commerce market.
